CourseVault

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 31, 2026

CourseVault ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using CourseVault, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored encrypted) when you sign up.

Content you upload: PDFs, notes, and documents you submit for processing into quizzes, flashcards, summaries, and other study materials.

Usage data: pages visited, features used, quiz performance, and study session activity, used to improve the product and personalize your experience.

Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Paystack) handles your card details directly — we do not store full card numbers on our servers.

2. How we use your information

To provide and operate the service — processing your documents into study materials, tracking your progress, and generating personalized recommendations.

To communicate with you — service updates, billing notices, and (if you opt in) product news and study tips.

To improve CourseVault — understanding which features are used, where students get stuck, and what to build next.

To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service.

3. How we handle your documents

Documents you upload are processed by our AI pipeline to generate summaries, quizzes, flashcards, and other materials. Your documents are not used to train third-party AI models, and are not shared with other users or made public.

You can delete any uploaded document at any time from your dashboard. Deletion removes the file and its derived study materials from our active systems within 30 days.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We share limited data with service providers who help us operate CourseVault — for example, cloud storage (Cloudflare R2), payment processing (Paystack), and AI processing providers — solely to deliver the service.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CourseVault, our users, or the public.

5. Data security

We encrypt data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to user data is restricted to authorized team members who need it to operate or support the service.

No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.

6. Your rights and choices

You can access, update, or delete your account information at any time from your account settings.

You can request a full export or deletion of your data by emailing hello@coursevaultai.app.

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

7. Children's privacy

CourseVault is intended for university and pre-university students. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice before the changes take effect.
